Our Queer community and other marginalized groups natuarally gravitate toward tarot. For years we’ve sought answers when there was no one else to guide us. So it’s not unusual to seek out an unconventional path to success when your journey has been anything but conventional. That’s why you might be interested in an online tarot reading.
Online Tarot Readings
The need for answers is unprecendeted. In a world where it seems as if everyone is on a spectrum your experience gets polarized. Why would those you love choose to support someone who hates you? Are we really making America great? And then you lose your sense of self in the whirlwind of what’s important. Tarot brings you back to yourself.
LGBTQ folks are also early adopters of tech. This was never more prevalent than when smartphones came out. In fact, 35% of LGBTQ adults 18-24 used their mobile device in coming out according to a study by the Gay Ad Network in 2012. And we still see this today as teens upload their coming out stories and live coming out moments to YouTube.
So it makes sense the Queer community has an interest in accessing tarot online. But there must be some good reasons.
Location
Depending on where you live, it may not be easy to get to a tarot reader. Where I grew up the fields of cows and the forest behind my house weren’t about to whip out a deck. A cousin from California gave me a deck in 1985 as a gift and I started exploring more about what tarot was and is today.
If you’re able to get online though, you can find a tarot reader near you. You can even find tarot readers in other countries! As more tarot readers come out of the tarot closet, they’re easier to find than ever.
And maybe, just maybe, the tarot reader that’s close to you isn’t a great fit for you. Tarot readers are all human beings with different personalities, skills, and abilities. So you may just need to find the best tarot reader (who is also online) for you.
Schedule
Your life is crazy busy. And getting from one place to another can be nuts. Having an online tarot reading saves you time.
As a part of the Queer community you may have two legged children, four legged children, husband-partner-boyfriend-whatever, and a busy social calendar to top it off. Add your workday on top of that and how do you fit in time to reflect on and better yourself?
If you get an online tarot card reading it gives you some time alone. It also gives you time to focus and reflect. And if you’re reading with me, you get a kick in a the ass to start achieving your goals.
Privacy
Your privacy is more and more important to you. Your personal data is in danger of being stolen. All of your  locations are geo-tagged. If you’re out, you’re constantly coming out in new situations (if it’s safe). If you’re not out, you fear discovery. So how does having a tarot reading online protect your privacy?
Having a tarot reading online gives you control over your privacy. You control if you’re location is tagged. You can control if your phone history is saved. Then you are in control of the situation and who you come out to.
And if you’re living in a place that doesn’t look favorably on tarot readers or the Queer community, online is your gateway. So if you’re already using your phone or iPad as a safe space to connect with other LGBTQ folks, you can also use it to connect with a tarot reader.
FAQs
Should I use an App or go to a real person?
This is a great question. I recommend that only tarot readers use tarot apps. If you’re not into being a tarot reader leave the app in the App Store. It’s going to give you a bunch of generic meanings for the cards that you will in turn need to relate to your question. If you even had one.
Using the app is like expecting a Gordon Ramsey style dinner and getting a grand slam from Denny’s. (I see you – I know you’ve been there. Don’t get all fancy and claim you’ve only been to an IHOP.)
Going to a real person, whether online or face to face, is the ideal. The reader is going to go further than a pre-recorded general interpretation of one card at a time. We look at a holistic view of the cards and read from experience. We’ll read what’s between the cards. We read how they interplay. Just like life. So you get to make the choice, but the recommendation should be clear.
