Have you ever wondered if getting a Tarot reading is a good idea? Or maybe you’ve only seen a Tarot reader on a boardwalk while on vacation and thought about the entertainment value of seeing into your future.
If you’ve been in a place of indecision about getting a Tarot reading, it’s probably a terrible idea to get one.
I would suggest that you should only get a Tarot reading when you’re at a point of transformation in your life. I’m going to give you a personal list of reasons why you should avoid a reading that has nothing to do with science or polling, it’s based in experience.
Transform Through Honesty
Basically, I’m asking you to be honest with me. I get it. The embarrassment of sharing intimate details of your life to better your chances of a great reading is scary. But you already know that honesty is the best policy. I mean, on a percentage basis, the more times you tell the truth, doesn’t it get you to a better place than if you’d only shared part of it?
The more you share with me, the deeper I can get into touching on details that will confirm we’re connected enough to give you clear, positive next steps to achieve that lifelong dream. Whether that dream is owning your own business or finding the perfect partner for you.
It’s so very rare that someone hears news that they don’t want to hear. And I’m not talking about when you’re going to die or if someone else is. Or if you’re getting a divorce. Remember, I confirm where you are or give you the steps to achieve your goals. I help the living.
To Transform Requires Different Everything
Tarot readings are mean to transform you. They’re about change. If you’re getting a reading I assume you’re at a point in your life where the status quo is no longer tolerable.
I believe that you’re ready to change what isn’t working. That means that it’s time for something different. Different action. Different words. Different patterns. Different behaviors. All of the things.
That’s a scary place to be! But on the other side of fear is opportunity, lessons learned, and a lot of people behind you either cheering you on or saying, “Huh, I need to know her!†Lead your life before someone else does it for you.
Transformation Goes Awry
Earlier I was talking about being embarrassed to share a clear question. There’s a couple things that could go wrong if you shy away from what you really want to say.
- I’m not a mind reader, so I’m going to answer the question you ask. If you don’t get the answer you’re looking for, consider if you asked the right question. During a scheduled reading, I spend several minutes getting at the right question with you. If you’re not comfortable with the question we land on, speak up! I’m here to enable your success. It doesn’t do you any good to have me help you with something that isn’t life changing.
- If you don’t course correct me early, you might find that you have the opportunity for another reading on your hands. One for the question you’d have rather asked.
As a general rule, the question you most want to ask is the one that you think about daily. It’s the one you thought about when you decided to come to me or any other Tarot reader. Not the watered down church voice version. The question in your words that tells your story with your desire to succeed.
Invest to Transform
Now, listen. Is that daily $5 latte going to help you know what you need to do next? When you stare at the white lid of that cup, as the outside warms your hands, did the barista write all the answers for you or did she spell your name wrong? Again. Do you need the latte or is the need to change your current situation greater than the need for over priced coffee?
And I get that you want the reading to be fun. Serious readings are intense and take a lot of energy from both parties. But changing your life for the better requires some serious focus.
That doesn’t mean there can’t be some laughs along the way. One more good reason to try and get moments with your potential reader before you book them. Decide if you like their personality, there sense of humor, and their style before you book them. For example, you can google Tarot on YouTube or Periscope to view readers doing their thing. (I’m there too!)

When you’re having a reading with me that mystic thing that happens comes about in the confirmation stage. There will be moments where I ask you to confirm something I’ve said that we would have never talked about. For example, I was going through a reading and asked someone what Periwinkles meant to them. (Some symbols are meant for me to interpret based on my experience with them and others are a direct connect for confirmation of the client’s question) In this case, I was looking at a card full of brown and rocks.  Periwinkles are shiny and purple. Turns out that was the client’s daughter’s nickname.
The confirmation will happen. But withholding information in an effort to force the “proof,†will never get you and your reader on the same page. Some readers will ask you to tell them nothing. Others, like me, want you to share whatever your comfortable sharing. ‘Cause it will take our reading further than if you hadn’t. Let those floodgates open!
“I DON’T KNOW WHAT TO ASK”

If you’re not prepared to take control of your life, why would you expect me and 78 cardboard cards with some art to take control of it? There are other Tarot readers who love to answer “will I†questions. But let’s think about this for a sec. Those types of questions are a yes/no answer that can take all of two minutes to answer. If you’ve booked an hour or more with me to go through your relationships or transforming your life, what do you think we’ll do for the next hour?
I would encourage you to seriously consider a question that starts with “how can I [insert verb and goal here]†or “what can I do to [insert verb and goal here]†or “what’s the outcome if I [insert verb and goal here]â€.
In the paraphrased words of Heather Small’s Proud, if you step out of the ordinary, can you feel your soul ascending?

A stronger action would be to consider your strength and how you’re working together. All relationships have challenges. When you can name them, then the work begins.
