Take Back Your Life

Did you know that 80% of adults are practicing some sort of meditation? It’s true that meditation, yoga, and mindfulness are all becoming extremely popular right now. Why? Because we’re inundated with 24 hour news, Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, Facebook, family, friends, email, and anything else that can be slammed our way through YouTube, podcasting or traditional media like television and radio. No matter where you turn there’s a screen talking at you or sound you hear. It ruins your sleep, it ruins your concentration, and it ruins our natural rhythms. Ultimately, it takes you off your game. It’s time to seek out the benefits of mindfulness.

So approach your day with thoughtfulness and awareness. That way you’re going through your day with some actionable advice. You can use it to move the outcome of the events that occurred during the course of your day in the direction that you’d like them to go.

What Is Mindfulness

Mindfulness used to make me nervous because I didn’t know what it was. I was drawn to it anyway. ¬†It’s a simple awareness of a singular focus through a multitude of complex sounds, ideas, thoughts, and experiences that are happening around you at any given moment. You get to be unemotional and not judgmental so that you can make the best decisions for yourself going forward.

Mindfulness Is Overblown

A lot of people get worried about mindfulness because it’s become one of those buzzwords that we don’t quite know what it means anymore. I think that it can be intimidating to approach mindfulness because it’s become this seemingly huge thing.¬†Mindfulness Monday is really about small acts of awareness throughout your day that allow you to manage the onslaught of information that comes at you in our social media-24-hour-news world with manageable chunks.
