You know that feeling when things keep happening and they seem out of your control? Like when you are frustrated because you keep getting behind the slow driver in the fast lane for your entire trip. Or when you have a nagging feeling that you should be doing something but you can’t remember what it is. Being aware of these symptoms just may lead you to mediumship meditation.

Crazy moments like those been happening to me a lot over the last several years. But it’s been happening for me with experiences of mostly those who have passed. Sometimes with the living. But mostly with someone from the other side trying to communicate with another on this plane.

As I reflected over these experiences from the last few years I noticed some things that surprised me. Some synchronicities that I could no longer ignore. So I’ve re-engaged with my practice of mediumship.

Medium Symptoms

There are so many little moments that add up to where I am today. But I wanted to share some of the clairvoyant, clairsentient, and clairaudient moments that are starting to become part of how I work. And ultimately why meditation for mediumship is important.

I was working through a tarot reading for someone and suddenly realized that my body had assumed a very strict position. (I’ve always known that when I’m reading my body provides messages but this was different.) I asked the sitter about what my body was doing and it was the exact representation of the arthritic issue I was reading about.

While working another reading, my sitter had someone come through that I could hear. I was using phrases and words that weren’t a normal part of my vocabulary. But the sitter recognized these phrases and attributed them to their deceased family member.

I’ve had knowledge of the inside of my sitter’s house. I’ve never been in her house. But I was receiving very clear pictures in my head of the counter where a family photo was and could describe the deceased and his son to my sitter very clearly. Hopefully this moment of co-parenting through me was supportive of what their son needed most at the time.

Yet another time my sitter was visited by a mentor who had passed unexpectedly from a terrible accident while alone in the woods. Not only was my tone for this individual recognizable to my sitter, but my turns of phrase also where. Even more, I had such a sharp pain in my head (I can’t describe how much this hurt) that I believe he passed from a fall and a head injury.

Medium Awareness

So at one point I realized that I was receiving this information but I didn’t recognize when it was going to happen or even that it was. I didn’t have the discipline to know how to manage or interpret what I was receiving. And I certainly wasn’t sure how to prepare adequately for it to happen.

So I started talking to people about it. And luckily I was surrounded by a lot of witches. And surprisingly (or not!) more mediums that I ever had been in my life. So I had a wealth of knowledge to tap into. And it doesn’t hurt that I work a block from the Chicago Public Library.

So after talking and reading a bunch I started back at the beginning of anything new. I read my ass off. And then I got to work on re-engaging with meditation.

Mediumship Meditation

Relaxation

I relax from the souls of my feet up. Usually I’d sit in a chair and have my feet on the floor. The other day I was cross legged and sitting on a cushion. I think I would prefer the sitting with feet on the floor next time.

Opening

As I work to relax parts of my body where tension resides I also check in with certain points of my body (similar to chakras) and I ask for specific things to happen. If I do this mediumship meditation before a reading, I replace the “I” with “They” or the sitter’s name.

  • Groin: Help me understand what I want most (Red)
  • Gut: Help me understand what I believe (Orange)
  • Stomach: Help me understand what I already know (Yellow)
  • –At this point I picture a flame growing-
  • Heart: Help me understand what I’m feeling (Green)
  • Throat: Help me understand what I’m saying or others need me to hear (Blue)
  • Head: Help me understand what I’m thinking (Purple)
  • Crown: Help me understand where I am spiritually (Violet)

I take this action because it prepares me to be open to receive sounds, feelings, images, words, messages. In whatever form they come. Sometimes I ask to control the vehicle. For example, “Please only use images to communicate today.”

But today, I’m asking for each one to be open very deliberately. Then I’m in control of what’s to come. I’m prepared rather than surprised. And I’m serving the sitter in front of me in the best way possible.
